CHARLOTTE (AP) — Gov. Pat McCrory wants more study of a bill that would transfer control of Charlotte-Douglas International Airport from the city to an independent agency.
But the former Charlotte mayor did not say that he was opposed to the idea.
McCrory says the dispute on control of the airport appears to a disagreement between city leaders and business leaders. He says the two sides need to get together and come up with the best long-term solution to the disagreement.
Some Charlotte officials are upset that the bill to make the change is moving quickly through the North Carolina General Assembly. A vote in the Senate is scheduled Wednesday.
Charlotte City Council voted Monday night to spend $150,000 to study the advantages and disadvantages of the potential change.
