Deputies nab shooting suspect

SALISBURY — Investigators have arrested a 24-year old Salisbury man in a shooting that injured an Old Wilkesboro Road man Saturday night.
Rowan County deputies raided a home on West Fisher Street this morning and arrested James Michael Cathcart Jr. Authorities said a gun located at the home was believed to be used in the shooting.
Deputies believe Cathcart shot Aluonzea Tea Jackson during a dispute on Hawkinstown Road. Jackson was taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center, but later flown to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Detectives charged Cathcart Tuesday afternoon with felony assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and felony robbery with a dangerous weapon.
He was placed in jail under a $1 million bond.
Investigators said Jackson remains at Wake Forest Baptist, but is expected to survive.
A hospital spokeswoman said Monday night Jackson was not listed in the hospital’s public registry.
