SALISBURY – An electrical retail business and wholesale outlet is under construction at 2301 S. Main St.
Yorkridge Properties, based in Orlando, Fla., plans to open the 5,990-square-foot facility this spring, assuming good weather. The business has yet to be named.
Synergy Resources in Concord is the general contractor.

Hoffman on top financial advisers list
Kim Hoffman, an Edward Jones financial adviser in Wilson since 1994, has been named to Barron’s magazine’s list of the “Top 1,000 Financial Advisers in the United States.” She ranked No. 23 among North Carolina’s top advisors.
She is married to Charles A Hoffman, who grew up in Salisbury, and the daughter-in-law of life-long resident and business owner Al Hoffman.

Caregiver Bolt honored for 10 years of service
 Toni Bolt, a local caregiving professional, has been recognized for 10 years of service with Comfort Keepers, a growing international franchise offering in-home care services for aging adults and others needing assistance.

Southern States poultry app

Southern States Cooperative has released Poultry Pal, its first mobile application. It is designed to help small-flock producers manage their layers, broilers, turkeys and other types of poultry.
While commercial software is available for large poultry operations, this is one of the first mobile applications designed specifically for small farmers and hobbyists. Compatible with both iPhone and Android devices, Poultry Pal allows backyard breeders to track their birds; store information like hatch dates, health notes, photos and more; upload and share flock photos with others; find articles on raising and caring for poultry; connect with blogs and other poultry-related posts on the Internet; and create shopping lists for supplies to maintain their flocks.

Women in Leadership Forum

The Salisbury branch of the American Association of University Women and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College will host “Rowan Women in Leadership Forum & Networking Event” on Thursday, March 14, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
A panel of prominent female community leaders from government, nonprofit and business sectors will speak on the most significant event in their professional lives and provide a range of information about building success as a professional woman.
Speakers include Maggie Blackwell (government and community sectors, City Council member), Carol Spalding (education sector, RCCC president), Kyna Foster (nonprofit sector, Rowan Helping Ministries), Starling Johnson (business sector, Johnson Concrete), Maia Smith (business sector, Maia’s Fashions), Carol Hallman (pastor First United Church of Christ).
Those who attend can ask questions and speak with panelists individually. Light refreshments will be provided by AAUW Salisbury.
The forum is free and open to the public.

Bojangles’ muscular dystrophy fundraiser
Bojangles’ is supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association through its Shamrocks Against Dystrophy fundraiser.
Customers can purchase a green shamrock for $1 or gold shamrock for $5 through Sunday, March 17. 
Money raised will help children attend MDA Summer Camp. 
The cost of sending one child to MDA Summer Camp for a week is $800, and MDA depends on corporate supporters to raise funds.  Last year, Bojangles’ raised a new Shamrocks record of over $423,000, sending more than 530 children to MDA Summer Camps.
