KANNAPOLIS — The fifth annual children’s concert presented by the Piedmont Prime Time Community Band will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at The Kannapolis Performing Arts Center inside of A. L. Brown High School, 415 E. First St.
The young and young at heart are invited to come and enjoy the music.
Audience members may wear a costume portraying characters featured in the following songs: “Annie, the Musical,” “Bat Man,” “Sesame Street,” “Spiderman,” “Sound of Music” or “Sponge Bob Square Pants.” Costumes are not required.
Those who do dress up will be invited to come on stage or stand at their seats.
The band will also play songs featuring the different band instruments.
Admission is free. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Life drawing models needed

Waterworks Visual Arts Center is seeking models for life drawing classes for students 18 through adult. Classes meet once a week September through May.
Models must be at least 21 years old. All body types are welcomed, female and male.
Some experience is preferred, but not required.
Models must be able to hold a pose for at least 20-minute increments and must be comfortable posing nude.
We offer competitive compensation and a professional environment. A valid identification is required.
To ensure the integrity of Waterworks and the models, we follow a strict protocol of confidentiality and professionalism.
During the interview process for all models, we will discuss timeframes for the classes, expectations and compensation.

Auditions for ‘Arcadia’

St. Thomas Players of Salisbury announces auditions for “Arcadia,” a rich, witty comedy by Tom Stoppard.
Auditions consist of cold readings from the script (with an English accent if possible), and will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 17 and 7 p.m. Monday, March 18.
Claudia Galup, artistic director of St. Thomas Players, and David Pulliam, professor of theatre at Catawba College, will direct.

Weaver at St. John’s

Matthew Weaver will perform at 12:15 p.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 W. Innes St.
Weaver, who served as music director at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 13 years, recently made his debut performance with the Grand Ole Opry, and continues to travel throughout the United States in country/bluegrass music shows.
He now divides his time between Boone and Nashville.

‘The Verdict’ auditions

Updaway Productions will audition actors and actresses for the stage production of “The Verdict: The Beginning or End?” from 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Saturday at the Rowan Public Library Stanback Auditorium, 201 W. Fisher St.

Annual Rowan Wine Tour

Rowan County is home to three award winning wineries, Cauble Creek Vineyard, Morgan Ridge Vineyard and Old Stone Winery.
Each winery will be featuring special events during the annual Rowan Wine Tour, which kicks off Friday and wraps up Sunday.
Cauble Creek Vineyard was established in 2006 and opened to the public in 2010.
They are North Carolina’s 100th winery, located in the western part of the county at 700 Cauble Farm Road, off of Highway 150.
Morgan Ridge Vineyard opened in 2010 near High Rock Lake at 386 John Morgan Road in Gold Hill.
Old Stone Winery was founded in 2001. It is located at 6245 US 52 near East Rowan High School.
Brooke McBride, a 2012 Charlotte Music Award nominee. will be performing at Cauble Creek from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. There will be a $10 cover charge for the concert.

‘The Race’ auditions

Lee Street Theatre will hold auditions for “The Race,” a new play by Charlottean Brian Daye.

Dr. Ortrud Crist to speak

CONCORD — Dr. Ortrud (Oddy) Crist, who lived through World War II in Nazi Germany, will speak on Thursday, March 7, at 7 p.m., at the Speakeasy Ale House, 9 Union St. North.
Dr. Crist’s parents and grandparents were part of a German underground resistance which helped to hide and feed Jewish people during World War II. At the age of 18, she moved to America, eventually settling in North Carolina with her American officer husband. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from NC State University, and has an MA in Pastoral Counseling and a PhD in Theology. Dr. Crist enjoys teaching the importance of history and of participation in the political process. She has followed her parents’ and grandparents’ examples in standing up for her convictions, making a difference when obstacles arise, and encouraging others to investigate, become involved, and to make a difference in preserving America.

The deadline is March 15 for the Wayne C. Henderson Music Festival’s contest for a T-shirt design for the 19th Annual Festival in June.
