The United Methodist Women of First Methodist Church in Salisbury will hold the second annual Run/Walk for Missions 5K and mile fun run Saturday, March 2.
Both events will be held on a circuit around City Park that allows spectators to keep track of the runners throughout the race. The 5K is three loops, each with a short hill and lots of downhill and flat terrain.
Start time is 9 a.m. for the 5K and the fun run will follow at about 9:45. Awards will be given in 15 age groups for both men and women. All participants in the 5K get a dri-fit shirt and plenty of refreshments.
Proceeds go to further the projects of the Methodist women and will benefit local charities.
“We are really excited to bring this event back to City Park,” Race director Laura Shaffer said. “This is the only race in the area where the runners can be seen throughout the race. Come cheer them as they go by each time. The UMW projects will get a boost from the event and our women will be on hand Saturday thanking each participant for being here.”
