• Army Pfc. David A. Brady has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.
The son of Mike Brady and Brenda Brady, both of Salisbury, Brady is a 2012 graduate of Jesse C. Carson High School, China Grove.
• Private 1st Class Edie Belk has been named a Distinguished Honor Graduate from the 15R AH-64D Advance Helicopter Repairer Course, Class 061-12, 128th Aviation Brigade. Edie will be stationed at Fort Bragg. She is the daughter of Ester Marsh and stepdaughter of Kevin Marsh and a graduate of West Rowan High School.
• Taylor Rodenhuis, a student at Salisbury High School, has been selected to participate in the 2013 U.S. Naval Academy Summer Seminar program. The U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) invites a select group of approximately 2,550 young men and women from around the nation and abroad to attend the summer program. Summer Seminar is a fast-paced leadership experience for rising seniors in high school which helps educate, motivate and prepare selected students who are considering applying for admission to USNA. Taylor is the son of Terry and Sheri Rodenhuis of Salisbury.
