SALISBURY — A Salisbury man was charged with drug trafficking Thursday after officials say he was found with pills and cash at a traffic stop.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit, with assistance from the Sheriff’s Patrol Division, arrested Ricky Ray Shackleford, 51, on multiple counts of trafficking.
Shackleford was stopped in a vehicle on Webb Road after leaving his residence on Fox Run Road in Salisbury. According to the sheriff’s office, a large quantity of prescription pain medication and cash were found in his possession during the traffic stop.
Investigators then executed a search warrant at his house, where additional drugs and money were found. In total, about 1,000 doses of controlled substances and more than $17,000 in cash were seized.
Shackleford was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.
