Elaine Pasqua, an advocate for right choices, will speak at Catawba College’s Keppel Auditorium at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14. She will offer a high-energy program titled, “Sex and Excess: Surviving the Party,” that will encourage students to make their goals a priority, as they examine why they engage in high-risk behaviors and how things can go wrong.
This special presentation, about alcohol abuse on campuses and its effects on decision-making skills is sponsored by the Catawba Office of Student Affairs.
Using playful humor and hard facts, Pasqua will highlight the negative outcomes, such as poor academic performance, property damage, injuries, deaths and unprotected sex that can result from alcohol abuse. Pasqua describes herself as a realist and advocates drinking responsibility.
“Pasqua will bring a message that is important for all college students to hear. This is a time in their lives when risky behaviors can have irrevocable consequences,” said Catawba Dean of Students Ben Smith. “We hope this program is a wake-up call that will not only entertain them, but give them food for some serious thought.”
