LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Syracuse guard Michael Carter-Williams wasn’t fazed by a shaky first half, nor two missed free throws in the final minute that gave No. 1 Louisville chances to win on Saturday.
The sophomore just knew he had to redeem himself, and his second-half recovery in several areas helped the sixth-ranked Orange rally for the 70-68 upset.
It was the second straight Saturday that No. 1 went down. Duke lost to then-No. 20 North Carolina State 84-76 a week ago.
A record crowd of 22,814 at the KFC Yum! Center saw Syracuse beat a No. 1 team for fourth time, all Big East teams.
Carter-Williams’ most important contributions were a go-ahead 3-pointer with 5:28 remaining, followed by a steal and go-ahead dunk with 23 seconds left as he scored 11 of his team’s final 13 points, including the last four.
He added a rebound and a steal at the end to cap a 16-point, seven-assist game that made it easy for Carter-Williams to forget a five-point first half and those two missed free throws.

AUSTIN, Texas — Ben McLemore scored 16 points and Kansas stormed back from a late double-digit deficit for its 15th straight win.
Jeff Withey added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Jayhawks (16-1, 4-0 Big 12), who trailed by 11 points in the second half before McLemore steered a rally that prevented the reeling Longhorns (8-9, 0-4) from a badly needed victory in this troubled season.

TEMPE, Ariz. — Mark Lyons scored 24 points and Nick Johnson added 19 as Arizona pulled away in the second half.

INDIANAPOLIS— Roosevelt Jones stole an inbound pass with 3.5 seconds left and hit a floater from just inside the foul line right before the buzzer to help No. 13 Butler upset No. 8 Gonzaga 64-63.
It’s the first time Butler (16-2, 3-0 Atlantic 10) has ever beaten three top 10 teams in one season.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Scottie Wilbekin had 13 points and 10 assists, his first career double-double, for Florida.
The victory was coach Billy Donovan’s 400th with the Gators, making him the third coach in SEC history to accomplish that feat with the same school. He joined Kentucky’s Adolph Rupp and LSU’s Dale Brown in the 400-win club.

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Keith Appling made two free throws with 7.9 seconds left and finished with 15 points for Michigan State.
The Buckeyes had a chance to potentially tie the game in the closing seconds, but Shannon Scott didn’t come close on a running 3-point attempt.
The Spartans (16-3, 5-1 Big Ten) have won five straight conference games.
Ohio State (13-4, 3-2) was playing for the first time since handing Michigan its only loss last Sunday.
WICHITA STATE 67, No. 12 CREIGHTON 64
WICHITA, Kan. — Carl Hall had 17 points and 13 rebounds and Malcolm Armstead hit two key free throws in the closing seconds for Wichita State.
Cleanthony Early added 13 points and Demetric Williams had 10 for the Shockers (17-2, 6-1 Missouri Valley Conference), who pushed their home-court winning streak to 17 games.
Doug McDermott finished with 25 points for the Bluejays (17-2, 6-1).

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Jack Cooley had 19 points, 10 rebounds and blocked a shot with 2 seconds left to help No. 20 Notre Dame hang on for a win over Rutgers, ending a two-game losing streak for the Fighting Irish.
Rutgers used a 6-1 run late to close to 67-66. Atkins then made a pair of free throws for the Irish (15-3, 3-2 Big East).
Myles Mack 3-point attempt at the buzzer missed as the Scarlet Knights (14-4, 3-3).

LOS ANGELES — Tony Woods scored 18 points and Oregon pulled away over the final 6 1-2 minutes to improve to 5-0 in Pac-12 play for the first time in 39 years.
Dominic Artis added 14 points, and Arsaian Kezemi had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Ducks (16-2, 5-0 Pac-12), who snapped the Bruins’ 10-game winning streak, including eight straight victories at home.
UCLA (15-4, 5-1) was led by Travis Wear who scored 17 points

CINCINNATI — Sean Kilpatrick scored seven of his career-high 36 points in overtime Saturday nightfor Cincinnati (16-3, 4-2 Big East). Marquette (13-4, 4-1) managed only 13 points in the first half and never led until overtime.
