SALISBURY — Police said three men jumped a Salisbury resident and pinned him to the ground as they removed rings from his fingers Monday night.
Authorities said the robbery happened on Park Avenue about 10 p.m. The victim later told officers three young men, possibly teenagers, threw him to the pavement and pulled four rings from his hands.
A police report said the youths asked the man if he wanted to go to a “crack house” with them as they approached; when he declined, they attacked.
The jewelry thief was described as a 5-foot-11, light-skinned black male. He was wearing glasses and a gray, hooded sweatshirt.
A second suspect, who threw the victim to the ground, was described as having long braided hair, standing about 6-foot-2 and wearing a blue pullover.
The third suspect appeared younger, authorities said, and was about 5-foot-6.
The victim was taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center and treated for chest pains. Officers said he was released shortly thereafter.
