MOUNT PLEASANT — N.C. Rep. Carl Ford will hold the first of several town hall meetings Friday in Cabarrus County.
It will be held at the Mount Pleasant Town Hall, 8590 Park Drive in Mount Pleasant, from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday.
Ford said he plans on holding about six to eight town hall meetings per year in locations all across the 76th district. In addition to southeastern Rowan County, the district now includes northeastern Cabarrus.
“I’m just hoping to hear from the citizens, especially with that being a new part of the district,” he said. “I’m going to do a brief overview of what I think is coming and a quick round of bills that are going to hit. Then, I’m going to mainly listen to what other people have on their minds.”
The General Assembly began its 2013 long session Wednesday in Raleigh.
Ford, a former Rowan County commissioner, is new to the 76th district seat this year. Its previous representative, Fred Steen, chose not to run for re-election and will now serve as Gov. Pat McCrory’s legislative liaison.
