Letters from home can make holiday merrier for soldiers
Published 12:00 am Thursday, December 20, 2012
Members of the military who can’t be home for Christmas appreciate hearing from people in their hometowns. Here again is a list – by no means complete – of area troops stationed far from home this holiday season.
At our request, Post readers shared information about their family members in the military, and the list was published in early December. Shortly after that, we received one more address.
It’s late to try to get mail to faraway stations by Christmas, but thoughtfulness is appropriate any time of year.
Alicia Mills sent this note and a photo of her son, Thomas, who is 20 and has been in the Army since August 2011:
“My son is currently serving in the Army in South Korea. He graduated from East Rowan High School in 2010. Graduated basic training from Fort Benning, Ga. in December 2011, both basic training and Infantry. He was deployed to Camp Casey South Korea in February 2012 and will be there til 2013. He is the son of Chris and Alicia Mills of Salisbury.”
Our apologies to the Mills family for not publishing Thomas’ address sooner. Here it is:
