Cabarrus man charged with sex offender violations

On Friday, Nov. 14, Jonathan Edward Honeycutt was arrested by the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office for multiple sex offender registration violations. The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on Honeycutt in mid-November after receiving information that he was possibly staying at his girlfriend’s house and not at his registered address.

This investigation led to the discovery of Honeycutt being on a banned social media website by a sex offender (Facebook). Also, it was confirmed that Honeycutt, on two different occasions, had been on the property of one of the local elementary schools.

The investigation by the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office has found no evidence that any children were approached while the sex offender was on school grounds.

Honeycutt was arrested on Dec. 14 and charged with failure to notify of an address change by a sex offender, Being on a banned social media website by a sex offender (Facebook) and two counts of being on school property by a sex offender. Honeycutt received a $25,000 secure bond from the magistrate at the time of his arrest.
