Motorist charged after crashing through fence

?A China Grove man was charged Saturday night with driving while impaired and other traffic infractions after a single-vehicle crash.
The N.C. State Highway Patrol charged Francisco Hernandez, 27, of Bluefield Drive, with failure to maintain lane control, leaving the scene of an accident, possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle and no operator’s license.
Trooper D.T. Sloop investigated the crash, which occurred at 7:39 p.m. at Ed Deal Road, off Millbridge Road.
The trooper said Hernandez drove through fencing behind Millbridge Elementary School, in the western part of the county. He was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier.
The trooper noted Hernandez was unsteady on his feet and had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, a report said. A sample of blood was taken for chemical analysis. Hernandez is being held under a $5,000 secured bond in the Rowan County Detention Center.
