Shop owner donates in honor of employees

Sasha Kitty is a regular fixture at Stitchin’ Post Gifts and greets customers at the downtown Salisbury store. She has her own book and might have even been in on a contribution to the Christmas Happiness Fund.
Store owner Pam Coffield jokingly said she gave the gift in the name of Sasha Kitty. Sasha may not have donated to the fund, but Coffield did give to Christmas Happiness to honor her employees.
The fund provides Christmas presents for children who live in low-income households. The program is sponsored by the Salisbury Post, which accepts donations. The Rowan County Department of Social Services distributes vouchers to eligible families.
Staff members at Stitchin’ Post Gifts are like family and work to treat customers in the same way, Coffield said.
“I’ve got such a great staff. I’m just very proud of them and the way they embrace the concept of excellent customer service,” she said.
The store is celebrating its 37th year in business.
“Everyone here does an exemplary job in taking care of our customers and treating them like family,” Coffield said.
The store typically has four or five employees and up to eight during the holiday season.
Two women have worked at the store for about 15 years, Coffield said.
“I think that speaks very well of their commitment to the business and our customers.
“We enjoy working here together. It’s just a good team and people need to be recognized for that,” Coffield said.
Bring contributions to the Salisbury Post, 131 W. Innes St., between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays or mail them to The Salisbury Post Christmas Happiness Fund, P.O. Box 4639, Salisbury, NC 28145-4639.
Make checks payable to the Christmas Happiness Fund and indicate how you wish your donations to be listed.
