?SALISBURY — Happy’s Farm, a local nonprofit tutoring facility and farm, will host a Country Christmas Town event this weekend.
The farm, named after owner Rhonda Stirewalt’s great-grandfather, William “Happy” Trexler, provides after school tutoring and summer camps.
The event is from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday and Dec. 15 at 985 Parks Road, off Mount Hope Church Road.
The public is welcome to attend the free Saturday event.
There is a charge for some activities, but a $5 pass allows visitors to participate in a scavenger hunt, Christmas cookie decorating, a choice of snacks, horse rides, a visit to Santa’s workshop and a wagon ride through the peppermint forest.
Individual concessions are available, including apple cider, hot cocoa and cotton candy.
This is the first year for the event said Pam Alexander, a member of the board of directors. The farm has held a Halloween event for the past two years.
Organizers are turning what is usually a Western- themed place into a winter wonderland for the Christmas event. The saloon is being turned into a place to decorate cookies.
Alexander said a ramp is available to aid those who are disabled in getting onto the horses.
The scavenger hunt will include a search for things to put into a stocking, like candy canes, she explained.
