This week’s athlete of the week is Shay Steele.

Steele, a 6-foot-2 senior at West Rowan, not only led her Falcon team to a 73-58 win over North Rowan on Friday, but she also reached the 1,000-point milestone for her career. She was presented a game ball.

Against North, Steele scored 26 points, pulled down 13 rebounds and blocked several shots. She has always played well in the North gym, scoring 153 of her career points in Spencer, including a career-high 33 last season.

Steele has signed to play at Morehead State.
