Knox Chapel Advent Fair
CLEVELAND — Knox Chapel Church is having an Advent Fair today, Dec.1, from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. There will be crafts for the children and a free hotdog lunch. Knox Chapel UMC is located at 3520 Amity Hill Road. If possible, children may bring a gift for the children at the Cancer Center or Toys for Tots.

First Presbyterian Church
On Sunday, Dec. 2, sanctuary worship features the Choir and Bell Tower Ringers at: 8:30 and 11 a.m. In addition, Countdown to Christmas (crafts and snacks for all ages in the fellowship hall) is at 9:30 a.m. The church is located at 308 W. Salem Church
Salem Church invites the community to its first Sunday in Advent service that will include Holy Communion and the lighting of the Christmas tree and Advent Wreath. Services are at 8:30 a.m. (contemporary) and 10:45 a.m. (traditional). On Wednesdays during Advent (Dec. 5, 12 and 19),the Advent Bible Study “The Journey to Bethlehem” will be offered at noon and 6:30 p.m. which includes a short DVD clip filmed in the Holy Lands, showing where Mary, Joseph, Elizabeth, Zechariah, John the Baptist, Jesus, and the shepherds lived. Explore Nazareth, Ein Karem, Bethlehem and the journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Call the office to make reservations for the meal at 704-636-0352.

Calvary Baptist
Beginning on Sunday morning, Dec. 2 and continuing through Wednesday evening, Dec. 5, Calvary Baptist Church will hold revival services. For the 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday services, Rev. Marty Dupree of of the Evangelism and Growth Team, Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Cary, will speak. Jonathan Lotz will lead the 7 p.m. weekday services. Rev. Lotz is the son of Anne Graham Lotz and grandson of Evangelist Billy Graham.
Special emphases will be held each night and they include: Sunday as Sunday School Night, Monday as Children’s Night, Tuesday as Deacon Family Night and Wednesday as Youth Night. CLEVELAND — The 14th anniversary of Messengers for Christ will be held Sunday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. at The Building, 1790 Baker Mill Road. Various groups will be participating, come out and show your support.

Live Nativity in Woodleaf
WOODLEAF — Members of Woodleaf United Methodist Church will be performing a live nativity on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 3150 Potneck Road. The event will start at 5:30 p.m. and characters/animals will be on display until 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Potneck Road runs between Hwys 801 and 601. Do not take Woodleaf Road from Salisbury as the bridge is closed for construction. Bring your family and friends out for an evening under the stars to kick off the Christmas season!

Moore’s Chapel AME Zion 12 Tribes rally
Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church will have a 12 Tribes Rally program on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. The Rev. Tamika Robinson, pastor of Liberty AME Zion will preside. The church is located at 500 Partee St.

United Missionary Baptist

Blood drive features home-made goodies
KANNAPOLIS — The First Presbyterian Church will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Monday, Dec. 10, from 2-6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. The canteen will feature hot spiced cider and home-made baked goods and snack mix, along with the usual cold beverages and snacks. The church is located at 201 Vance St. at the southern end of the North Carolina Research Campus.
All healthy members of the community who are seventeen years of age or older and weigh 110 lbs. or more are urged to give the gift of life this Christmas. Sixteen-year-old youth may also donate now, with parental consent Donors are reminded to help decrease the chance of being deferred by eating iron-rich foods on the days leading up to the drive. On the day of the drive drink lots of water, avoid caffeine, eat a good breakfast and lunch.
Appointments are not required but will expedite the donation process. To make a appointment, please call the church office at 704-938-4623. Walk-ins are welcome too.

Lighted Christmas Ball Workshop
John Calvin Presbyterian Church will host a workshop at 10 a.m. today, Saturday Dec. 1, to create lighted Christmas balls, designed to brighten spirits during the holidays.
