SPENCER — North Carolina State Highway Patrol officials expect northbound Interstate 85 to clear in an hour.
Traffic on northbound Interstate 85 is backed up for miles because of a
collision involving at least one tractor-trailers in Davidson County.
“We are in the process of clearing the wreck scene,” said Sgt. K.G. Brown.
Brown said there were no injuries in this collision, which occurred just north of N.C. 150 exit.
Troopers say message boards are advising drivers to exit on N.C. 150, then travel to Old Salisbury Road north, to go around the collision.
Brown said officials believe the reason for the back up is motorists are not getting off the interstate early and are having to wait.
The problems began with a report of a stranded motorist, which was
followed by a wreck shortly before 7 a.m., according to dispatches with
the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Few other details are available yet.
The right lane of I-85 is blocked, leaving only the left lane for traffic, which was backed up to exit 79 in Rowan County.
One of the truckers is visible from an online traffic camera operated by
the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The live cameras can
