LEXINGTON (AP) — A Davidson County man will be imprisoned an additional 10 to 15 months after pleading guilty to killing a bicyclist in a hit-and-run accident.
The Dispatch of Lexington reports that 31-year-old Kenneth Wright Jr. of Lexington was sentenced Friday to between 22 months and 27 months in prison. He’ll receive credit for the year he’s spent in jail since turning himself in for the death of 45-year-old Richard Wise.
Wright pleaded guilty to felony hit and run and misdemeanor death by vehicle. He apologized to Wise’s family members and friends, calling it an accident.
Wright’s truck hit Wise’s bicycle from behind on Nov. 1, 2011, throwing Wise into a ditch.
Prosecutors say Wise was returning home after having dinner with a friend and was wearing a reflective vest.
