HICKORY (AP) — A new wood millwork plant in Caldwell County will create 170 new jobs.
The Hickory Daily Record reported Woodgrain Millwork Inc., will spend more than $8 million on the plant in Lenior.
Gov. Beverly Perdue announced the plant Wednesday, as well as a $635,000 state grant for the project.
Woodgrain Millwork is based in Fruitland, Idaho. It makes molding, doors, and windows.
The company has more than 180 employees at plants in Richmond and Union counties.
CEO Kelly Dame says the decision to open the Caldwell County plant was based on the availability of workers from the furniture industry with experience working with wood.
