SALISBURY – Deputies arrested a 30-year-old Rockwell man on drug charges after his mother told officers he was armed and upset.
Bryant Chase Evan Casey, 30, of Rock Olive Church Road, was taken into custody at a home on Mallard Lane Tuesday morning.
Casey’s mother, Penny Casey, phoned officers after she said her son was upset with an individual and had a bat and pistol in his possession.
When authorities arrived, Deputy B.S. Watson searched Casey for weapons. Casey said he had a wallet in one of his front pockets. But a syringe fell from his pocket when he pulled it out, an arrest report said.
The needle of the syringe appeared broken off, and Casey told officers he had used it to inject bath salts the previous day. the report said.
Officers said the syringe appeared to fall from Casey’s wallet, leading to a search of the wallet. A small bag of heroin was found hidden behind the man’s driver’s license, deputies said.
He was charged with felony possession of heroin and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
No weapons were found during the incident.
Casey was released after posting a $3,500 bond.
