SALISBURY – Two men were arrested after authorities said the men tried to shoot each other during an altercation Thursday night.
Rowan deputies arrested Darrell Tucker, 45, and Joel Terrell Leach, 20, at a home on Litaker Road about 7:30 p.m.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said officers were dispatched to the area after a caller said the two were firing handguns at each other.
Deputies said Leach was at Tucker’s home when they got into an argument Friday evening.
Leach walked home, but stopped first at his uncle’s house on Litaker Road, arrest reports said.
Worried about a fight, Leach’s uncle “hesitantly gave him the .380” caliber handgun before he left, the report said, which Leach put in his back pocket.
Tucker approached Leach in the driveway of the home shortly after, deputies said, and the two began firing at each other.
Neither was hurt in the shooting. Tucker left in a vehicle and went back home, authorities said.
Both men were charged with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon. Neither was in jail Friday.
