The student body of Rockwell Christian School recently gathered in observance of “See You at the Pole,” a national day of student prayer.
Each year since 1990, thousands of students across the nation gather at their respective school flagpoles on the fourth Wednesday of September to pray for their nation.
This event grew from a gathering of teenagers in Burleson, Texas, who became broken before God and burdened for their friends, schools and leaders. Compelled to pray, they drove to three different schools that night where they gathered at the school flagpoles and prayed. Those students had no idea how God would use their obedience.
Since 1991, “See You at the Pole” has grown to unbelievable proportions. Now each year, more than three million students from all over the world participate in “See You at the Pole.”
Students of Rockwell Christian School’s American Christian Honor Society organized the observance for their school.
President, Benjamin Odom, welcomed the students, faculty and parents. As the flag was raised by Jonah Patil and Micah Eagle, Andrew Straight challenged the group with a history of the day and with how God has used a small group of students from Texas.
Nathan Hoehman shared the Scriptural basis from “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”(Psalm 33:12) ” If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”(II Chronicles 7:14) “…let all the people praise thee. Then…God shall bless us.” (Psalm 67:5-7) Madison File led the group in “God Bless America.”
