SALISBURY – Two teenagers were arrested Thursday night after Salisbury Police said they ran from an officer.
Romello Christopher Ford, of West Horah Street, and Malik Rashaad Jones, of Vanderford Street, were chased down by authorities in the 800 block of West Horah Street about 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police said an officer tried to get out of his car and speak to the two teens after he saw them walking behind homes in the area. When he did, an arrest report said, the teens ran.
Authorities said the two disappeared behind a group of homes near West Bank Street. But the youths doubled back toward officers when additional Salisbury Police units approached from the West Bank Street area and the two were arrested.
A police dog searched the area and found a silver Smith and Wesson .38 caliber special. The serial number was scratched off.
Jones, 18, and Ford, 16, were charged with felony possession of stolen goods, felony alter, destroy or remove ID marks and misdemeanor resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer.
Ford was also charged with misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon and misdemeanor possession of a firearm by a minor.
Both were in Rowan County jail Friday under $25,000 bonds each.
