Sherrills Ford man accused of sex crimes

KANNAPOLIS – A Sherrills Ford man was arrested Tuesday and charged with nine counts of felony sex offenses.
Eddie Eugene Clemmer Sr., of Jefferson Street in Sherrills Ford, was taken into custody at his home by Catawba County deputies. He was then transferred to Kannapolis Police.
Clemmer, 51, is accused of sexually abusing a person from 1996 to 1999 while the victim was living in Kannapolis, a press release said.
Clemmer was charged with felony second-degree rape, felony first-degree statutory rape, two counts of felony first-degree sex offense, felony second-degree sex offense, two counts of felony indecent liberties with a child and an additional felony sex charge.
Kannapolis detectives said they began investigating Clemmer after complaints of abuse were reported on Feb. 3, 2012.
Clemmer remained in jail Wednesday under a $200,000 bond.
