SALISBURY — A former Catawba College soccer coach charged with molesting a child on campus waived his right to arraignment Monday morning.
Ralph Wager remains in Rowan County jail under a $1 million bond. He is charged with six felony sex offenses.
Wager’s attorney, Darrin Jordan, was present in court Monday but did not speak. A phone call to Jordan’s office was not immediately returned.
By waiving his right to arraignment, Wager waives his right to have the charges formally read out to him and did not have to appear in court. Typically, at arraignment, a defendant also enters a plea.
The 69-year-old is accused of sexually assaulting a boy in his on-campus home and office during the late 1980s.
