SALISBURY — Several local stores will pamper teachers Saturday with appreciation day events.
Locally-owned Just the Thing, 103 N. Main St., as well as Office Depot, 715 E. Innes St., and Staples, 355 Faith Road, will kick off their events at 9 a.m.
All three stores will be handing out gift bags. Staples will offer the goodies to the first 100 customers, Just the thing to the first 50 shoppers and Office Depot will have them available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Just the Thing manager Lisa Rawson said they’ll likely go quickly.
“We have folks who start lining up outside at 7 a.m.,” she said. Just the Thing will have also have sweet treats on hand. For every $10 spent, shoppers at Just the Thing will be entered into a contest to participate a one minute shopping spree. That drawing will take place at noon with the spree following.
The store will also give away door prizes at random times throughout the day.
“The best thing to do is get here early, have a bite to eat and shop around,” Rawson said.
Locally-owned Creative Teaching Aids, 310 S. Main St, will also host an event starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
The store will pass out goodie bags to the first 75 customers and provide refreshments through the day.
There will also be giveaways every 30 minutes for those shopping.
Co-owner Joy King said teachers will get to select their own prizes from those drawing.
“High school teachers are not going to want the same things as kindergarten teachers so we’re going to allow them more choices,” she said.
Shoppers will be entered into a drawing to win a weekend at a four-bedroom house at North Myrtle Beach for every $10 they spend.
That drawing will be held at 2 p.m., but you don’t have to be in attendance to win.
