Delta Xi Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. will sponsor a mammogram screening on the Rowan Breast Center Mobile Van on Sept. 8 at First Calvary Baptist Church, 200 S. Long St.
Pre-registration is required and can be done on Saturdays, Aug. 4 and Aug. 18 from noon to 2 p.m. at First Cavalry Baptist Church. Medicaid, Medicare, insurance and no insurance individuals are urged to schedule an appointment. Scholarships are available for those qualifying individuals with no insurance.
Early detection is the best defense against breast cancer. An annual mammogram is suggested for women over 40 by the American Cancer Society. Health is one of the AKA Sorority program initiatives. It supports organizations which advance access to treatment and coordinate awareness to reduce disparities, mitigate diseases which disproportionately impact women and minorities.
