Yesterday: Do you know these players?

Here’s a mystery presented to us by Emil Sparger of Spencer. Who are these football players? Are they professionals? College players? High school? Hilda Overcash Goodnight spied this photograph in the Post newsroom one day and said the player second from the right was Gene Freeman of Landis High School. The Post showed the photograph to Freeman later, but he says he can’t be sure it’s him, mainly because he can’t identify the other players. Freeman graduated in 1956 from Landis High and was a good fullback on the Yellowjackets’ football team. A collector of many things, Sparger found this photograph attached to the back of something he bought at a local yard sale years ago. The photograph had no date or identifications. If you have information on the photograph, email Mark Wineka at mwineka@salisburypost.com.
