A Salisbury teen who taught himself to yo-yo by visiting websites and watching YouTube videos will compete for the title of World Yo-Yo Champion next week.
Adam Reeder, 13, typically practices about an hour a day, but he’s increased that time in preparation for the competition, which starts next Thursday and runs through Saturday in Orlando, Fla.
“I practice quite a bit more, about two or three hours a day, just trying to create a routine for it,” he said.
Reeder, a rising eighth-grader at West Rowan Middle School, will have one minute to wow the judges with his yo-yo moves to the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ song “By the Way.”
More than 200 people will compete for the title.
