SALISBURY — The city has temporarily suspended a planned three-week upgrade of Fibrant to avoid more widespread outages.
General Manager Mike Jury said he will not proceed with adding a backup Internet circuit to Fibrant until he’s confident the maintenance can proceed smoothly. Some Fibrant customers were without service for hours on Thursday and Friday.
Jury said he has identified equipment that did not properly support the network early Thursday morning when Fibrant came back up from the planned maintenance. Jury said he has been working on a solution with the vendor that provides the equipment, as well as conferencing with all Fibrant vendors to make sure equipment throughout the fiber-optic network works well together.
