Beth Feeback, an artist from Concord, found the deal of the day. Perhaps of her lifetime.
The News and Record of Greensboro reports that Feeback bought a painting at a Goodwill store for $9.99.
The painting, 1966 painting by abstract artist Ilya Bolotowsky, is now awaiting a September auction at Sotheby’s in New York.
From the News & Record story:
Sotheby’s has given it a conservative auction estimate of $15,000 to $20,000, a spokesman confirmed.
“I am kind of nervous,” Feeback said. “I feel like I have a lottery ticket that is going to be worth something, but I don’t know how much.”
“If we were comfortable and had plenty of money, I might have saved it until the economy was better,” Feeback added. “But right now, we just need the money. And it’s also nerve-wracking to have something of that potential value in your house.”
