A severe thunderstorm that passed through Rowan County about an hour ago meant lights out for some in Landis.
“We had a little lightening storm and it knocked out some of the power here,” said Steve Rowland, the town’s public works director.
Rowland said the outages are scattered and his crew is working to remedy the minor issues now.
“We have to change a couple of transformers that took a direct hit and that’s going to take the most time,” he said. “Everything will be back on in a couple of hours.”
About 3,400 customers receive their utilities through the town’s 50 miles of power lines.
Cabarrus and Rowan counties have been placed under a severe weather alert as a string of storms pass through the area.
