The state Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission denied parole to a Salisbury man convicted more than 20 years ago of murder.
John Silver Murdock, then 31, was convicted in December 1987 of killing his 96-year-old grandmother, Janie Brown Murdock.
He was sentenced to life in prison.
It was during a parole review that Murdock was denied. According to the commission, he’ll be scheduled for another review in 2015.
Janie Murdock was found a day before her grandson’s 1986 arrest beaten, strangled and partially nude in her home, according to published reports at the time.
