SALISBURY — Work has started to rebuild Romano’s restaurant, a popular Italian eatery on West Innes Street, which was nearly destroyed in December by an electrical fire.
Neal Hiatt of Restoration Plus Services Inc., which is serving as general contractor, said Romano’s should reopen about four months after construction starts. He said demolition began Monday and should wrap up within a week.
The restaurant will retain the exterior brick walls but feature a new interior layout, expanded kitchen and bigger bathrooms, Hiatt said.
Nick Georgiou owns the restaurant, which used to be a Pizza Hut.
