Oak Park residents make 30-foot banana split

On Tuesday, residents at Oak Park Retirement Community celebrated National Ice Cream Month in a big way.
A really big way.
The residents pulled together and scooped to create a 30-foot-long banana split at the retirement community on White Oaks Drive.
Working with nearly 30 gallons of ice cream, two crates of bananas, several pounds of chocolate sauce and nearly 10 cans of whipped cream, the seniors had to build the dessert fast before it melted.
All the work was rewarded in the end, though. After building the banana split, they got to eat it.
