Legion Auxiliary 342 attends convention

Unit President Smith to head District 9 unit
The American Legion Department of North Carolina Auxiliary 92nd Convention was held in Raleigh June 21-23 with units from all over the state attending.
During the convention, units were honored for their work and dedication to the American Legion Auxiliary.
Members of Harold B. Jarrett Unit 342 of Salisbury in attendance included the chaplain for the unit, Phyllis Richardson, and President Julie Smith. Unit 342 received First Place for the scrapbook and history book competition. The unit historian is Emilee Sidelinker.
President Smith received the Unit President of the Year Award and was elected to the office of District 9 President for the 2012-2013 year.
Membership to the American Legion Auxiliary is open to all women who are a mother, wife, sister or daughter of a veteran of World War I or II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Lebanon/Grenada, Panama, Persian Gulf War Operation, Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom.
Meetings are held the first and third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Unit 342 location at 1024 Lincolnton Road in Salisbury.
