Steen ~ Brown

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. — Natalie Melissa Steen and Kevin Richard Brown were united in marriage April 21, 2012, at The Sanctuary Hotel. The 11 a.m. intimate ceremony was officiated by Chaplain Doug Farmer and was followed by a luncheon reception at The Jasmine Porch.
The bride was escorted by her father, Allen Steen, and attended by her sister, Candace McKnight, as matron of honor. Richard Brown stood as his son’s best man.
The bridal couple’s miniature schnauzer, Zoe, served as the flower girl, and nephew of the bride Clayton McKnight was ring bearer. Michele Brown, sister of the groom, delivered a special reading at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Allen and Tina Steen of Mooresville. A 1998 graduate of South Rowan High School, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2005. She is an executive assistant at Ernst & Young.
The groom is the son of Richard and Deborah Brown of Christiana, Pa. A 1998 graduate of Lancaster Country Day School, he earned a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y., in 2004 and a Master of Science in PA Studies from Philadelphia University in 2009. He is a physician’s assistant at OrthoCarolina.
Following a wedding trip to The Excellence Playa Mujeres Resort in Cancun, Mexico, the couple are making their home in Charlotte.
Post wedding parties hosted by parents of the bride and groom were held in North Carolina on May 19 and Pennsylvania on June 9 for family and friends. Other special events included a bridal shower held in Charlotte on March 10 hosted by sister of the bride Candace McKnight and friends of the bride Megan O’Shields and Alison Hill; and a bridal luncheon held April 1 at Red Rocks Cafe in Huntersville hosted by Robin Allison, the bride’s aunt.
