Recycling bins distributed in Salisbury neighborhoods

Workers distributed about 2,000 new recycling carts along streets near Rowan Regional Medical Center on Tuesday. The 96-gallon carts are free and the same size as green trash carts. The arrival of the larger recycling containers means recycling pickup will switch to every other week starting July 2. Residents can keep their 14-gallon blue bins or place them inside the cart to be recycled. Those who don’t have space for the big carts can continue to use the smaller bins, but their recycling schedules will still switch to the two-week cycle. The Waste Pro carts include a schedule and list of recyclables, including new items like juice boxes, aerosol cans and all plastics. Garbage and recycling pickup days will not change.
