SALISBURY — A South Rowan High School senior was seriously injured Tuesday morning in a car crash on Wright Road.
Kayla Weinreich was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center at Charlotte when her car struck a tree in the 8500 block of Wright Road.
Frank Greene, public information officer for the Atwell Fire Department, said emergency crews immediately called for air transport when they arrived on the scene about 6:30 a.m.
Greene said first responders were able to pull the driver from the vehicle. A helicopter landed in a nearby field.
Weinreich was expected to graduate Saturday. She was listed in serious condition Tuesday night.
