Outback Steakhouse in Salisbury recognized the contributions of Guardian ad Litem child advocates in Rowan County at a luncheon they sponsored April 24.
District Court Judge Charlie Brown spoke to the 32 volunteers attending, encouraging them to tell others about the program.
Robin McKeithan, a GAL advocate, also spoke of the impact the volunteers have, not only on the child but the community as well. She expressed, “The gift of being able to witness the child who is heard and not just seen is ineffable. The hugs are endless, the worries are many, but your mark will be forever cherished.”
Gov. Beverly Perdue has proclaimed April as Guardian ad Litem Child Advocate Month in North Carolina.
For information on the GAL program, call 704-639-7517 or attend the next informational session Friday, June 1 at 10 a.m. at 310 N. Main St., Salisbury.
