Sheriff: Fugitive caught in Spencer

SPENCER — Deputies arrested a 27-year-old Spencer man wanted on federal weapons charges from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
William Denny, of South Spencer Avenue, was taken into custody and charged with felony fugitive from justice by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office yesterday afternoon.
An arrest report said Aggressive Criminal Enforcement deputies began searching the area near Denny’s home when they saw him coming out of a house.
Deputies stopped his car and he was arrested.
He was in jail Wednesday under no bond.
According to the report, several officers recognized Denny from an arrest last June.
He was charged on June 9 with felony fugitive from justice. Denny was convicted of two counts of felony robbery and two counts of felony kidnapping in a 2006 incident in Connecticut.
