School lunch prices to see increase
The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education voted Monday to increase lunch prices by 15 cents in order to comply with the National School Lunch Program’s “equity in school lunch pricing” provision.
Elementary students will have to shell out $2 for lunch next academic year, while students in secondary grades will pay $2.15.
The increase will bring in an estimated $100,000 in revenue.
Breakfast will remain $1.
Lunch prices in the Kannapolis City school system are also rising to $2 for elementary students and $2.10 for secondary students next academic year.
