CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — A South Carolina man on a flight from Charlotte to Costa Rica has been arrested after authorities say he groped a flight attendant and two girls.
The Charlotte Observer reported John Edward Bare, 53, of Gilbert, S.C., is charged with simple assault against a minor and interfering with the flight crew.
An affidavit says Bare began bothering a flight attendant after ordering several alcoholic drinks on Wednesday’s flight. The affidavit says he grabbed her arm and leg.
The affidavit says two 14-year-old girls later complained Bare had touched them inappropriately.
Costa Rican authorities refused to let Bare into the country and sent him back to Charlotte with two immigration agents.
Bare was being held in the Mecklenburg County jail. It was not clear if he has an attorney.
