A man described by emergency personnel as elderly has died in a single-car accident off Winona Avenue in the Enochville Community this morning.
A call to the accident scene was heard on the law enforcement scanner about 8:20 a.m.
A white, older model four-door sedan was found upside down in an embankment in a creek bed. Emergency crews had to use ropes to climb down the embankment.
About an hour later, a body was brought up, covered in a white sheet.
The embankment is at the end of a slight hill, a steep drop from the road. Neighborhood residents were standing at the scene this morning, but there has been no identification of the person; officials believe he is from the area.
Enochville Fire Department reported they had never responded to an accident in that area before. The speed limit is 35 mph.
More details are coming as they are available.
