The Rowan County Democrats will meet on Saturday in the commissioners’ chambers on the second floor of the County Administration Building, 130 W. Innes St., for the County Convention.
Delegate registration begins at 9 a.m. and the convention will convene at 10 a.m. The convention is open to the public regardless of political affiliation, if any.
Delegates will be elected to the 6th and 12th congressional district conventions and the state convention, both of which will select national convention delegates. The 2012 Democratic National Convention will be in Charlotte Sept. 3-7.
Members will also vote on a resolution against Amendment One, honor Democrats who have passed away, sign up volunteers for headquarters and the April 21 candidate forum and give out awards.
Meetings of the Rowan Democrats are regularly scheduled for the fourth Thursday of the month but will not meet this month due to the convention Saturday and the candidate forum April 21. For more information please call 704-310-7082 or email rowancodems@gmail.com
