Frost warning issued for early Thursday

A freeze warning issued for Rowan County this afternoon will have many people scrambling to protect their plants tonight.

The National Weather Service warns that temperatures will drop below freezing across portions of western North Carolina and northeast Georgia. The warning is in effect from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday, with lows forecast to drop to about 30 degrees.

Sensitive plants and crops will be in jeopardy of damage.
Temperatures are forecast to dip into the 30s again overnight Friday and Saturday. Daily highs are forecast to be in the mid-60s.
