SALISBURY — The Grand Jury returned a true bill of indictment for a Salisbury man on an additional sex offense charge Wednesday.
Shelton Deese was arrested on Dec. 21 on three counts of felony indecent liberties with children and one count of felony second-degree rape.
Deese, 44, was initially placed in jail under a $100,000 bond. His new charge, felony statutory rape of a child 13-, 14- or 15-year-old, added an additional $100,000 to the bond amount.
Salisbury Police told the Post in December that Deese was a “family acquaintance” of the victim.
The 44-year-old is believed to have molested a 14-year-old girl on three different occasions inside his 1205 South Main Street home, raping her in one of those incidents, police said.
He is scheduled in superior court on Dec 25.
