Egg hunt today

Music program today
Cedar Grove Gospel Choir is sponsoring a musical program today, March 31, beginning at 6 p.m. The proceeds from this program will benefit a member of Cedar Grove. Cedar Grove is located at 2430 Hildebrand Road.
Greater Mt. Olive
EAST SPENCER — Greater Mt. Olive Full Gospel Baptist Church, 307 N. Long St., will honor local historians in a service on Sunday, April 1 at 3 p.m. There will be guest appearances by local historians, war veterans and the Crown and Glory Lutheran Church Praise Dancers. Co-pastor Belinda Smith will deliver a message honoring history and celebrating the future.

Main Street Baptist
CHINA GROVE — Main Street Baptist Church, 1615 N. Main St., will celebrate their 19th year with homecoming on April 1. The service begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by a meal. The worship service will feature Rev. Barry Beaver and the Beaver Family Singers of Kannapolis and Landis.
The Beaver Family Singers are known for personal and TV appearances locally and nationally.
Living tableau
KANNAPOLIS — First Presbyterian Church, 201 Vance St., continues a 51-year tradition with “The Last Supper,” a living tableau of the last gathering of Christ. This free performance is on Palm Sunday at 8 p.m..
The church sanctuary is transformed into the upper room for the reenactment of da Vinci’s fa.m.ous Last Supper painting that springs to life. The men of First Presbyterian Church take on the roles of Jesus’ disciples. A nursery will be provided.

Anniversary celebration
CHINA GROVE — Pine Ridge Baptist Church celebrates the anniversary of George and Peggy Bradshaw on Sunday, April 1 at the 10 a.m. service. Pastor Bradshaw came to Pine Ridge Baptist on March 31, 1996 serving first as interim before accepting the call as full-time pastor. He and his wife Peggy have been married for 59 years. Pine Ridge is located at 880 Old Linn Road.
St. Luke Missionary

KANNAPOLIS — There is a hot dog and dessert sale at Rodger’s Park Reformed Church, 704 East 22nd St., Thursday April 5 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., with all proceeds going to church projects, local and world missions.

YADKINVILLE — Courtney Baptist Church, 3341 Courtney Church Road, will host a breakfast/cruise-in/live music and auction fundraiser 7 a.m. -2 p.m. on Saturday, April 28.
Cruise in registration begins at 6:30 a.m., followed by breakfast, music by Caleb’s Bridge, lunch and the auction. Proceeds go to Courtney Baptist youth ministries.

New Destiny concert
Bishop Rhinehart and New Destiny Temple of Faith host a Palm Sunday concert on April 1 at 4 p.m. featuring local groups, mime, dance and speakers including The Singing Pastors, Bishop Paul S. St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 W. Innes St., announces its schedule for Holy Week and Easter:
•Palm Sunday, 9 a.m. in the Center (contemporary), 11 a.m. in the sanctuary. The ancient story of Jesus’ passion, retold in narrative form, along with special music.
•Maundy Thursday, 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary. A foot-washing ceremony precedes the service at 6:45 p.m..
•Good Friday tenebrae service, noon in the chapel and 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. Based on is an ancient liturgical form from the 8th century.
•Easter Sunday, 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the sanctuary and 9 a.m. in the Center. Holy Communion, enhanced by the Salisbury Brass, the St. John’s Classic Ringers Handbells, the Chancel Choir, soloist and organ at the 8:30 and 11 a.m. services. The Center Celebration musicians will lead the 9 a.m. worship.
Christiana Lutheran
Christiana Lutheran Church, 6190 Highway 52, begins Holy Week services April 1 at 10:30 a.m. Worship begins outdoors (weather permitting) with the blessing of the palms and congregational procession into the church.
•April 4-5, 7:30p.m., Living Last Supper, dramatic musical portrayal of the last meal.

Gloria Dei Lutheran
Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1908 Statesville Blvd., observes Holy Week with services and activities beginning Sunday at 11 a.m. when worshipers gather outside, and then will form a palm processional into the church. In place of a sermon the congregation will read the Passion of Our Lord according to Mark, followed by Holy Communion.
•Maundy Thursday, 7 p.m., a service offers the option of having one’s feet washed, also Holy Communion and the stripping of the altar.
•Good Friday, 7 p.m., gathering of stark silence that completes the series of Lenten services have ben based on dramatic presentations of persons who witnessed the suffering and death of Jesus.

•Easter sunrise service, 7 a.m., John Calvin Presbyterian Church, Brenner Ave. Later, children will gather at Gloria Dei Easter morning at 9:45 a.m. to hunt eggs, followed by a festive service of Holy Communion at 11 a.m.
Faith Lutheran
FAITH — Faith Lutheran Church, 205 S. Main St., observes Palm Sunday at 11 a.m. with a palm processional, traditional service with scripture readings, Holy Communion and new members of the church being honored at a covered dish luncheon.
Weather permitting, the service will be on the front lawn. Worshippers may assemble on the lawn before the 11 a.m. service.
